The Eight Virtues

I grew up hearing the Eight Virtues. These are 1. fifial piety, 2. respect, 3. loyalty, 4. trustworthiness, 5. good manners, 6. justice, 7. integrity, 8. being humble. I have taken these to my heart since my childhood days. These Eight Virtues have one underpinning theme - trust. A person who practises thses virtues can be deemed trustworthy. They make good siblings, children, parents, friends, neighbors, and citizens.

A virtue, of course, is not a law. It cannot be enforced. It should be a preferences for an individual. One cannot be arrested for not being loyal, for example. But surely, a loyal individual can help life to be worth living, vs. existing.
